On a freezing February morning, 12-year-old Nicky and his family find shelter from the war in a metro station in Kharkiv, Ukraine. For them, daylight spells immediate danger, and they live under the perpetual glare of the neon lights, trapped in the station with no way out. Strolling among the abandoned train cars and crowded platforms, Nicky meets 11-year-old Vika and discovers a whole new world. As the bond between them strengthens, the children once again find the courage to feel the sun’s rays on their faces, to choose hope over despair.
