The Body Politic
In the midst of the uprising following the murder of George Floyd, Brandon Scott, a young African-American leader, was elected Mayor of Baltimore – a city of guns and violence. With a reformist vision that emphasizes prevention and support instead of strict law enforcement, he seeks to change the course of the city where he has lost many friends. As the violence in the city increases, he finds himself struggling against a hostile press and political rivals who doubt his ability to change the city. Will his holistic approach change the fate of Baltimore and serve as a model for the rest of the country? The film follows Scott, while raising complex questions about his moral and political dilemmas. It is an emotional journey of hope in a city in a city where violence has become inseparable from life.
