In the face of the horrors of the occupation and war in Gaza, The Other showcases another reality, an entire ecosystem of peacebuilders and activists in Israel/Palestine working together for a better future.
Filmed from 2017-2024, including the current war, The Other focuses on Israeli and Palestinian anti-occupation activists. We witness those who have only known each other through hate and bloodshed unlearn and transcend vacuous narratives belief systems and liberate themselves from generational traumas and fears, no matter how deeply ingrained. Among those featured are Ahmed Helou, a Hamas member turned peace activist who has lost sixty relatives in Gaza; Jewish Israeli, Maoz Inon, whose parents were both murdered on October 7; and Standing Together, a Jewish-Arab movement fighting for peace, equality and social justice.
