The Helsinki Effect
Israeli Premiere!
The Helsinki Effect is a documentary essay based on rare archival materials. The film reveals how the innocuous Helsinki Conference convened in 1975 to promote cooperation between East and West during the Cold War weakened the Iron Curtain and inspired peace movements – how a seemingly minor event became a historical turning point. The film uses historical figures brought to life by AI to illustrate the ability of “soft” diplomacy to change the world, and invites us to reflect on similarities between then and now.
