Valentina is a young woman living in the Sicilian village of Niscemi, overshadowed by a huge American military communications base (MOUS). She cares for her sick father and suffers from existential asphyxiation. As her physical and mental stress intensifies, she ventures on a journey of independence. This award-winning movie provides a poetic and intimate documentation of a feminine struggle for freedom, combined with subdued community resistance to an invasive presence that undermines daily routines and the local space.
